Baroque music concert - 3 February

Italian Journey - Baroque Music Concert in the Great Hall, Arts Centre, Wednesday 3rd February, 7.30 pm. 

Take a tour through the world of early music, featuring works from the 17th and 18th centuries by Legrenzi, Caldara, Durante, Carissimi, Sammartini, Vivaldi and Mancini.

Continuing the series on young Italians living in Christchurch, we talk with architect Massimiliano Capocaccia. We discuss architectural styles, colours and heating systems, as well as Massimo’s passion for outdoor sports. From his favourite music, we play Paolo Conte: Boogie Woogie and Marzo, sung by Giorgia.

Akaroa summer festival 19 January

Join members of the Dante Society for a 2-hour Italian immersion: entertaining workshops on how to eat spaghetti, pronounce Italian words and dance the tarantella. Then learn how to make gnocchi, fettuccine & ravioli, orecchiette & cavatini. Tasting to follow.

Cartolina 20 & 25 January

This week Cartolina talks with Elisabeth Sim, about her six-month stay in Italy as an exchange student in Caslae Monferrato (Piemonte).
